12 Things We Never Realized About Ourselves In 2019, That 2020 Taught Us

Image
There is a lot that 2020 has taught us about ourselves, our relationships, our passions and our values. As we made our 2019 New Year's resolutions we had nothing but hope for not just a fresh year, but a fresh decade to make our own. More memories, more adventures, more travel!  2020 however, had another plans. If we could take the pandemic away in an instant we would, but we can't and so instead we look for the silver lining. From tough time come tough lessons, personal growth and learning opportunities. Here, let me share with you what 2020 has taught me, perhaps you may relate to one of these.  1. Take that leap of faith  Don't waste your life waiting for the right time. The right time to change jobs, start a new hobby or plan a trip with your friends will never arrive with thoughts alone. Take the leap and do the right thing rather than waiting for life to pass you by. The year 2020 taught me that life is short. For me, that means dreaming about travel today, r...

My Comeback After Taking a Blogging Break

Hey guys! So being on a hiatus for more than a year, I'm back to blogging scene!  That's right!  I have relocated from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to embark on a new journey, just so you know ALOT has happened and I'm pretty sure you know about COVID-19. The entire country is on lockdown after lockdown, people are dying from this deadly virus, some are facing serious financial problem that leads to bankruptcy, etc.  So, going back to my comeback ( wow! LOL ). I don't know how to start this post so I guess I'll just try to re-introduce myself to both old and new visitors ( wow! LOL ). But I'll give it some twist. Because a lot has happened since my last post, it's needless to say that a lot of unexpected things also happened that definitely changed my life and made me who and where I am today.  Who Am I ?  I'm Isabelle. I started blogging since I was in high school. Back then I used Blogspot and Tabulas to publish my blogs. All of my entries were ve...

Show Yourself RESPECT (And Teach Others To Do The Same)

Hola a todos! Sitting here by the bar, taking a sip of glass of red wine, thinking about how the week have been a roller coaster ride. There is one incident which really bothers me though, because I never thought that defending a woman who got disrespected by other group of men became my fault. Hence, I’m writing this post to talk about how to show yourself respect and teach others to do the same. Let’s begin by clearing up something: Self-respect does not make you narcissistic or conceited or self-centered... in fact, it does quite the opposite. Self-respect is about amassing a deep sense of self-worth and self-love to show that you are worthy of receiving love and in turn, giving love. The problem for most of us - myself included - is that we go about it in the wrong way. We try to get a sense of self-worth by amassing “likes” on Facebook or getting a new gadget, when in truth external factors will never give us the self-respect we crave. Here are 12 ways to show more self-re...

On Purpose: A Busy Woman's Guide To Practicing

Hola a todos!  It's raining like mad dogs out there and here I am sipping on a cup of green tea by the couch. I've share a topic on self love yesterday and today I'd like to share something I found interesting and really useful for all the women out there. Let's go... The internet is a veritable buffet of quizzes, questionnaires, and slideshows purporting to help you understand yourself: What your hair says about you, what sunglasses are best for your face, how the shape of your nails reveals your personality (yes, that's a real one!). But how do you know which one to take seriously, and which ones to disregard? Setting aside the truly ridiculous -- looking at you, nails -- there is some clarity to be found in self examination sites and even quizzes, even of the purely physical kind. My favorite includes working with the chakras.  If you've never heard of of chakras, they are an Ayurvedic tradition common in yoga and meditative studies that looks at...

Why It's So Important To Love And Embrace Yourself

Image
Many people have trouble embracing who they are. I struggled for a long time on this issue. Sometimes I still do but not like before.  What makes it so damningly important is that if we truly wish to find more peace and joy and celebration in our world, we'll have to start with ourselves. Yes, there will be much larger battles to fight,  but at least for today, let's worry only about the war we wage against ourselves, within ourselves. Just for today, starting on this beautiful Tuesday night with a fresh start to what we know will be a long and hard week like the last many have been, let's take time to cultivate peace, gentleness, and compassion for ourselves, within ourselves.  There is much talk about self love these days on Pinterest, Instagram and the like. And while I'm sure I'll meet your expectations of being an advocate of any measures of self love, they feel to me as if only scratching the surface of something. If 'self love' is to b...

My Magical Moment

Image
Hola a todos!  It's a lovely Saturday night accompanied by the chill cold breeze with a glass of grape juice. It felt so surreal that we actually met after so many years. She looks different, that glow on her face, the sweetest smile and that long hair of hers...  A person meets many people in life but there are only some who leave a lasting impressions in our minds.  There are people we can laugh with, cry with and depend on with utmost degree of faith. Friends make it easier for us to go through hardships and struggles in life. They provide a shoulder for us to cry on.  Her name is Sara, she was my partner in crime when we were in University. She and I were inseparable in school.  We were the loudest and our inside jokes, those were the days ...  The beautiful lady sitting right next to Sara is Belle. This is the first time I am meeting her, she is a wife already (me and Sara is husband-less). Belle is a business woman and Sara is...

14 Things No One Should Put Up With In A Relationship

Thought of sharing my Friday night thoughts for all of you women out there..  Relationships can be awesome. They can make you feel better than eating the perfect slice of ice cream cake, summer rain drizzling on your shoulders, and stretching in the morning after a particularly hard workout, COMBINED. But relationships can also be crappy at times, and when they get too crappy it's time to take a stand. It's one thing when your boyfriend or girlfriend snaps at you out of anger once in awhile, or lets it slip that they don't like your haircut, but if your partner is constantly doing things that make you feel awful, then you need to address that problem STAT. Here are some red flags you should totally shut down before they swallow you and your relationship whole.  1. Control Freakishness  Asking where you are is okay -- it usually just means a person cares, and that if something were to happen to you, they would at least know where you were last. Totally understandable...
